The Cougar's weaknesses (bad hitboxes, low health, low mobility) outweigh its one strength (heavy laser boating). That doesn't mean people can't do good in the mech, it just means that the odds are stacked against them and it's an uphill battle.

Farming 800+ damage on sad players that can't fend for themselves, much less each other isn't impressive

The one positive thing about using an underdog mech is that it promotes decent gameplay - i'm usually very conscious about a mech's shortcomings and try to focus harder on teamplay to compensate for it to hopefully achieve such a wonderful performance.

With the same approach with the urbanmech, I could get good scores with heavy ballistic builds far easier, and by "heavy", I mean AC10 + 2x ERML with XL145, and i don't even have ECM with it, yet I could play it even better.
I don't want to blame Cougar, but despite superior clan-tech, it's worlds worse than the Urbanmech -- poor hitboxes combined with little armor -- compare to urbanmech with good hitboxes with hilariously immense armor.
I get that you wouldn't say that cougar is "bad", sure. However i would say that it's "worse" (that means it's done so in comparison), that there's better option unless Cougar gets an armor-buff as good as the Urbie. Cause it still has bad hitboxes.

The cougar, is just in that situation where its too lightly armored (anything as much as looks at you and ur gonna get cored in a single shot if not loose a ST or die outright), has low mobility so you cant quite spread and evade fire by being tough to hit, and worst of all is so massive in size that it gets hit by each and every incoming volley. Yeah it can carry more firepower then the cutefox, adder, ect, but it pays too much for that negligible capability, while the adder is literally just 1-2 tons of pod space under the cougar (if you count the almost mandatory cougar ECM), and the cutefox isnt that far behind either (its obviously less, but even then i can have 6 ERMLs with liek 16-17 DHS depending on whether i want to have 2 LMGs as secondarys or not).
Ofc its prolly a matter of the fact that the cougar simply doesnt fit with my playstyle nor does it provide the sort of platform id expect in a light gunbed style setup (the cutefox and adder are both gunbeds, but at least they go over 100kph and i can sorta run away if needed). Going under 100kph in ANY mech under 50t is a death sentence (discounting a couple very very heavily quirked IS mechs like teh urbie which can get away with taking fire). Then ofc its a clan mech, so you are gonna get focused like mad when people realize you are packing 50-60 alfa strike...
Finally, worth mentioning is that that 1000 dmg is through ATMs. Damage is damage, it still adds to winning, but getting 1000 dmg with direct fire (especially PPFLD or just pinpoint lasers) is a hell of alot more effective then the same with missiles, shotguns, ect. You gotta do like 1500-2000 ATM damage to be considered equal to a laser boat that did but 1000 but effectively killed 4+ players by focusing the entirety of their damage where it needed to go.

Only 50~60? Try 71.

(Ignore front/rear armor distribution)
Only problem is without skill tree you WILL get overheat just by firing this alpha strike (despite no ghost heat here), unless on really cold map. Solution is either spend GXP on cooling nodes, or start with just one less ERML, then add back when the mech has sufficient cooling nodes.

I'm sorry, but one good match doesn't exempt a mech from being overall bad.
I'll take any bad thing in any game and play well with it to prove a point. Yes I don't play much (currently) because frankly there are better games to play than this game that develops and balances at a snails pace. Not to mention the abomination that is the current skill tree. Here spend 2 million for 24 points for that extra x% increase!
If league of legends made you spend your hard earned blue essence just to re-spec your talents the community would be in an uproar. But I'm getting side tracked now. Just felt like venting.

That doesn't make the Vindicator any good, though.

I pulled down a 1360 damage in a cougar using an LRM build with heavy medium lasers and ECM. Every dog has it's day.
The Cougar is a pocket medium made of glass as long as nobody wants you dead you can certainly dish it out. But the very moment the enemy decides to take you out you realize you're a slow moving large profiled light mech with way to many guns and not enough engine.

That way we can people can post their high damage screenies without the need to try and hide it behind some other title.
